The Challenge is a mainly public course housing an 18-hole course designed by Shape Masters. The golf course was built in 1997 on the rolling farmland adjacent to the Haw River. This par 72 course measures 6,828 yards from the championship tees and offers five other sets of tees that make the course enjoyable for golfers of all ages and skill levels. The Club’s practice facilities consist of a warm up hitting area and an expansive chipping and putting green.
The Club has hosted several Mid-Amateur Qualifiers over the years. It is a Four-Star rated golf course by Golf Digest, the recipient of the 2nd Best New Course in North Carolina by NC Golf Magazine Panel, voted 24th Most Improved Golf Course in America in 2019 by Golf Advisor and Best New Public Course of the Piedmont by Carolinas Magazine.
Our Professionals Staff offer private or group instruction to benefit players of all abilities. Their knowledge and expertise can target the individual needs of each player to make the game more enjoyable and improve the golfing experience.
The Club is open for play year-round. We host a number of events to play in throughout the year to promote a fun and competitive atmosphere.
Access to the golf course is readily available. Tee times may be made seven days in advance or you may pay in advance to book tee times ahead of that. Call Pro Shop for more information on that option, Our golf staff can usually accommodate walk-ins, but asks that you call ahead so that they may serve you better.
The Challenge golf course offers a full-service Pro Shop, which has a variety of apparel and equipment available to provide for any of your golfing needs. Additionally, the Grill attached to the Club House offers a full food and beverage menu.

Hours of Operation
The Pro Shop is conveniently open to serve you 30 minutes before the first tee time and closes at 5pm in the winter, 6pm or later in the peak season.
